Now Offering Reformer Pilates
Champion Ballroom Academy is excited to announce that Reformer Pilates is now available on-site, offering dancers a powerful new way to enhance performance, prevent injury, and support long-term longevity in their training.
Sessions are led by Dana Miller, M.A., Ph.D., Certified Pilates Instructor, owner of Competitive Edge Pilates, and are offered as private, fully customized one-on-one sessions designed specifically for dancers.

Why Pilates for Ballroom Dancers?
Reformer Pilates is an ideal complement to ballroom training. It is a low-impact, highly effective movement system that builds deep core strength, improves posture and alignment, increases flexibility and range of motion, and enhances balance, coordination, and body awareness.
Pilates is also known for total-body toning, helping dancers develop long, lean, well-balanced muscles without bulk. By emphasizing controlled resistance, precision, and proper alignment, Pilates creates strength through length—supporting both aesthetics and performance on the dance floor.
For ballroom dancers, Pilates helps:
● Improve core connection and stability
● Create long, lean muscle tone throughout the body
● Enhance balance, control, and efficiency of movement
● Correct muscular imbalances from repetitive dance patterns
● Support injury prevention and rehabilitation
● Promote strength, longevity, and consistency in performance
Meet Your Pilates Instructor: Dana Miller
Dana brings a unique combination of elite ballroom dance experience, advanced academic training, and extensive Pilates teaching expertise. Her movement background began as a figure skater at age seven, continued as a nationally ranked ice dancer during her college years, and has evolved into a world-class ballroom dance career.
Dana has competed internationally and is a National Champion, World Champion, and Blackpool Finalist, giving her a deep understanding of the physical and technical demands required at the highest levels of ballroom dancing.
She was introduced to Pilates in 2013 while recovering from a lower back injury and quickly recognized its value not only as a rehabilitation tool, but as an exceptional method of cross-training for dancers. Pilates became central to improving her strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, range of motion, and muscle symmetry.
Dana has been teaching Pilates since 2019, working with both group classes and private clients at a number of studios in the Bay Area and San Diego, as well as providing rehabilitative Pilates sessions at a wellness center. Her teaching approach blends classical Pilates principles with cross-training and rehabilitative techniques to support performance, recovery, and long-term health.
Dana holds a Doctorate degree from Rice University, where she studied memory, learning, and skill acquisition, giving her a strong foundation in how the body and brain learn and refine complex movement. She completed her Comprehensive Pilates Certification through Body Arts and Sciences International (BASI), one of the most respected Pilates education programs worldwide.
